STEYR • HMW-Fuchs-Rundmotor FM40S SOLD

First Registration:
1957

KW (HP) ccm:
1,1(1,5)40 ccm

General Information:
Only 6,500 engines of the FM40S, the Rundfuchs were built by Hallein near Salzburg. The Rundfuchs was an improved version of the Ovalfuchs. The Oval Fox was a Victoria copy. A penalty even had to be paid to Victoria. That is why the engineer Anton Fuchs designed the Rundfuchs in 1955. To make our Steyr suitable for long distances, the engine was overhauled and a new ignition was installed using original parts. With the Dellorto T1 9SA approx. 40 km/h are possible. The 2nd gear has a pawl and reinforced spokes are installed in the rear wheel. If you are enthusiastic about bicycles with an auxiliary engine, you can nott miss this version and the chance to own a rare collectors item. Günther Uhlirz took a test ride on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road at the end of August 1949. We quote from Handbuch für Fuchs Fahrer: "Manual for Fuchs Drivers": Quote: "Retighten all screws every 50 km. Clean the spark plug every 100 km. Every 500 km top up or change gearbox oil, clean petrol strainer and fuel tap. Every 750 km check breaker, retighten chain. Every 1000 km Entrussen - general inspection. All possible damage can be avoided with some practice by a sensible driving style."
