General Information:
In 1978, Thierry Sabine initiated the Paris Dakar Rally. With a distance of 10,000 km, it was more than just an adventure for man and machine. BMW participated for the first time in 1981 with the R 80 G/S and was immediately successful with Hubert Auriol. In 1985, Gaston Rahier won the rally. As is often the case in racing, the vehicles developed are a feast for the eyes, and the 1985 R 80 G/S Paris-Dakar is definitely one of them. Our BMW comes from a small series built by a resourceful mechanic. The rebuild includes an overhaul of the engine, modification of the chassis and installation of components such as an extended swing arm, Marzocchi fork, Brembo brake system, Excel spoked wheels and other details designed to ensure that the replica corresponds to the original competition machine. German vehicle documents are available for this 1985 replica.
