General Information:
In 1975, Benelli developed the Benelli prototype 850 in collaboration with the University of Pesaro. Benelli had been part of the de Tomaso Group since 1971. In 1974, the Benelli 750 Sei was launched on the global market. In 1975, Benelli planned to enter the world of motor racing to support the marketing of the Benelli 750 Sei. The Benelli Proto was developed in 1975 in collaboration with the University of Pesaro. Due to generally poor performance in two or three races, the project was discontinued. We have restored the original prototype to running order. The package also includes the original magnesium rims. One of the key design features is the central positioning of the fuel tank, which shifted the centre of gravity. The engine capacity was increased to 850 cm³. Six 22-mm carburettors were fitted, along with an additional oil cooler with a side-mounted oil pump. Philipp Moc took up the idea of shifting the centre of gravity and sought to optimise it by mounting the tank beneath the engine.
